In a landmark move that could reshape homebuying in tech-forward, crypto-friendly cities like Miami, Fannie Mae has officially accepted the first crypto-backed mortgage product. Announced in late March 2026, the product allows homebuyers to use their Bitcoin or USDC holdings as collateral for a down payment — without having to sell their crypto assets.
Developed by Better Home & Finance in partnership with Coinbase, the program lets borrowers pledge crypto to fund their down payment while keeping the assets in custody. Even if crypto values fluctuate, the loan terms remain stable as long as monthly payments are made.
This is big news for Miami. South Florida has become one of the country’s leading hubs for cryptocurrency entrepreneurs, tech professionals, and digital asset investors. Many hold significant crypto portfolios but prefer not to liquidate — and now they don’t have to.
If you hold crypto assets and have been dreaming of owning a Miami property, this could be your moment. Call us to explore how this new financing option might work for your situation.
